Any natural remedies for depression?
Does anyone know of any natural remedies to combat depression? I don't want to get on any type of prescription drugs. I know my depressions is caused by chemical inbalances, so I would like to use natural things. Any sugestions?
Oh my goodness, there are so any things you can do. Not all will work for you as everyone is different. I have tried all of these, and found some more effective then others. (I have a hormonal imbalance.)
Some sort of physical activity, which give you endorphins.
St. John's Wort, Lemon Balm, Siberian Ginseng, Dandelion, Damiana, Epimedium.
Also, you might have a nutritional shortage, so a multi-vitamin may come in handy to replenish yourself.
If none of these work, don't give up. There's so many options available to you.

Exercise will help cure the symptoms of depression, but to rid yourself of this mental condition you do need to consult a doctor and take medicines. Support and understanding from family and friends is also essential.

Take b vitamins, especially b12. Take St John Wort, I think is the correct spelling of the name. Read directions on bottle. I never taken, but I read that it is like medicine.

How do you know the depression is caused by chemical inbalances? Did a doctor tell you this? Its Ok to not use that solution but some people really benefit from this. I take St John's Wort (tablet) but only one (you can take 2) a day I asked my doc first though as it reacts with a few other drugs but is pretty safe - the pharmacist could advise or ask the doc.
Try googling http://www.blackdog.org.au it is the best site I have ever found for depression and is huge with lots of articles and advice etc
