What herbs/vitamins help alleviate depression/anxiety? Common ones, please, I don’t have access to much…

I don’t have access to many health stores, etc. So any common vitamins or herbs or even foods that can help boost the emotional level of someone depressed, suffering from Anxiety would be great. P.S. I’ll have to slip it into his lifestyle, he’s not real open to this kind of thing. So it has to be normal food & stuff, that I can just have around the house for him to dig into when he’s ready. Thanks

5-HTP does wonders for anxiety. I know from previous experience. It also helps with sleep disorders & should be available at almost any Health Food Store.
Once your anxiety is under control I’d imagine you’re depression would be alliviated aswell.
If not, there is Saint John’s Wort, which is a safe herbal equivialant to prosac.

St. John’s Wort is a natural anti-depressant. Make sure if you take any natural herbs to let your Doctors know because they can interact with any other meds you may take. They can also affect dental work so make sure you tell your Dentist too.

For that idiot that suggested weed, be aware that smoking weed effects your mental health in the most negative way! You may feel chill at the time but trust me you are messing yourself up in a big big way

I would say st john’s wart as well, or just a change in lifestyle might help depending on the severity or the depression. Getting out into the sunshine for walks would help a lot and exercises

B vitamins act on the nervous system and make you feel better. They did for me long before I knew I had chronic and severe anxiety. Aside from my meds (Effexor) I take vitamins with minerals. Make sure all the b vitamins are included. They are sold everywhere they sell vitamins.

You cannot give something to someone that does not want it. Also, no herb will help depression or anxiety. This person needs to see a DOCTOR. You have no clue how this person will react to herbs, so do not try them without a doctor’s consent!
