What is a good Herb/Vitamin for anxiety & depression?
Hi,
Sometimes I would say at least 30% of the week, I get anxiety and or depression. I also get very irratated easily.
What do you suggest I take for these problems.
I dont want to take meds, want to do it naturally.
and what do you recommend for irritability?
St. John’s wart is recommended for both anxiety and depression, and even something like vitamin d and calcium will help you during the winter months when you don’t get enough sunlight. Exercise is what works for me, i find it releases positive endorphins in my brain, and picks me up. It also lets me sleep better at night, refreshing my brain and allowing me to feel better.

Fish oil pills. I take them.
I’ve heard St. John’s Wort, but I’ve never taken those.

try st. johns wort (depression), valerian root (anxiety) and you should be taking a multi vitamin. You are probably deficient in vitamins. You should be taking 1000 iu of vitamin D if you don’t go out in the sun and you need omega 3 with dhe….all these things can be bought at a grocery store.

B-complex is good for these symptoms but be careful to only take the rda for your age/sex. Don’t try taking the b-vitamins individually, it’s very complicated and you can have some serious imbalances. Best to get a B-complex supplement. Another good natural remedy for these symptoms is exercise. Are you in an exercise program of any sort? If you don’t have any physical limitations that would prevent you from being physically active, I would highly suggest that you find a sport that you like, or an exercise class. Yoga is FANTASTIC for these symptoms, as well.
