any natural remedies for depression?

I have a wonderful life, I am hapily married with two children and from all aperiances my life seems perfect. however I do have issues from my past that tend to put me in a depression state. I am constantly tired, yet suffer from insomnia. I know that I have a great life now, and I am tring to deal with my child hood and my past however when ever I address an issue it seems to bring out a drastic depression in me. I want to heal my wounds so that I can move on, but at times it is so much easier and happier for me to bary the past and live for the future! I have heard that exercise is a great natural remedy for depression, and I have been exercising regularly, but it does not seem to be helping much. I have been givin medication by countless doctor’s, but the side effect’s always seem worse then the depression itself. any sugestions?

Personally i think yoga would be a great help to you, it not only excerisies the body but connects the brain with the body and can seriously help with relaxation… it takes a while to learn properly but your life will be changed by yoga if you decide to take it up….. st. johns wort is supposed to be very good for depression though i know in britain and ireland it has been taken off the shelves because of the excesive ‘nanny state’ we live in as it is not good to mix with alcohol or other prescription drugs.. ask your health food store about it… definately yoga, give it a try and you will reap the rewards! good luck….

have you tried having your blood sugar levels checked?

when your blood sugar is too low it starves your brain for insulin. basically making you crazy.

look up some stuff online about hypoglycemia and see if maybe it’s something you may want to talk to your doctor about.

If your depression is based upon childhood pain, medication is not going to cure it. You are going to have to come to terms with your childhood. It sounds like you could do with some therapy with a good therapist who specializes in childhood trauma. Exercise and a healthy diet are great for us all, but they will not erase what is obviously haunting you.
