overcome depression…….?

I am a VERY happy person but i often get depressed for short periods of time. Does anyone know how to stay happy. My dad is manically depressed or something like that and i think i might have the same thing. help please i want to be happy. thank you

There are many different forms of depression and solutions. Depression can be brought on by stress. When you experience frequent periods of stress..or depression it can cause more intense periods of depression.
Think of it like this….lake in the desert that is exposed to the desert heat for long periods of time…it doesn’t rain…so lake’s water is evaporating because of the exposure to the constant heat (stress)…..and the water levels have become extremely low or have evaporated………then it’s rains and the lake is full again….
it’s the same with the chemicals in our brain….they have to be replenished….Sometimes medicine is the solution but natural herbs can help….
it would be wise to see a doctor and have some blood work to check to see if everything is the way it should be.
Good luck

I’m usually quite happy with my friends, but I experience the same about an hour periods of depression.
I just try to lie down, relax, and sleep. When I wake up, I usually feel a lot better.
If you find any more methods effective, please tell me !

i can relate to you, i am a happy person and i put smile on everybody face but some time i can have very dark emotion that deeply depression.
what i learn to do to stay happy is going things i love, like going to the movie instead of sitting home and worrying. I also take a walk in the park and listen to my ipod happy songs.
You have to remember that you are not your father and he is not you that’s the reason why he doesn’t get as very happy as you. so you don’t be him, you are you and we are all unique in our own ways.
do things that brough smile on your face, just do things that make you happy everytime you feel down it helps me.
You take care, it will pass
